In the world of Geomancy there are 8 elements as you all should know by now. Each one has a strength and weakness to it that is directly linked to another element. When a strong element hits a weak element, the target receives +50% more damage. However, if a weak element hits a strong element, the target receives -50% damage. The circle is as follows:

Ice BEATS Fire
Fire BEATS Nature
Nature BEATS Cosmic
Cosmic BEATS Light
Light BEATS Dark
Dark BEATS Earth
Earth BEATS Lightning
Lightning BEATS Ice

When ice damage is inflicted on a opponent with a subtype of fire, the target receives 50% more damage. So if a fire target took 4 points of ice damage, they would instead take 6 points of damage (50% of 4 points is 2 so 4+2=6).

However, the reverse is true. If a ice creature is hit with a fire spell, they would receive -50% damage. So if a ice target took 4 points of fire damage, they would instead take only 2 points of damage. (-50% of 4 points is 2 so 4-2=2).

This is not always the case, however, some creatures have double elements which means they are immune to two types and weak against two others. Immunity to a element means they take no damage from that type nor from the status effect it is associated with. Half numbers (fractions or decimals) are ALWAYS rounded down when dealing with damage.

[edit] Elemental Weaknesses

The forces of mana are bound by one another. It is through this that all things have become to be. But why do these elements react the way they do to each other? In Geomancy, scientific and theoretical properties explain this.

Ice beats Fire
Normally one would think that fire would melt ice, however Ice is the generic term. Ice in essence has other properties that define what the element of Ice is. Ice is also the cold and water. Ice puts out fire and heat.

Fire beats Nature
This principal lies on the fact that fire burns and ravages leaves, tinder, and consumes wood as a need for fuel. Plant-life fear fire as it has destroyed countless farmlands and forests.

Nature beats Cosmic
The first theoretical property touched on is seeing the stars and astral objects as a completely different element than the others. However what defines a planet as habitable by creatures is the ability to find sustainable plant-life and fauna. What destroys an astral object’s might in the universe is the ability to find such life on it. Seedings that can grow on inhospitable locations will tear that stellar object apart.

Cosmic beats Light
The next theoretical idea introduced is the thought of space and time bending. The only thing capable of bending and twisting light is the awesome force of gravity itself. Even the most wide and bright ray of light is twisted by cosmic abnormalities.

Light beats Dark
This is the typical good vs. evil scenario. There are, however, other principals behind it as well. Light vaporizes shadow and brings order to chaos.

Dark beats Earth
This combination is a bit difficult to explain. The way to see this is to view the darkness as a corrupting force. The earth is a strong physical environment but is easily taken over by chaos’ dark mind. Corrupted earth is tainted and hard to recover from. Signs of abnormalities and scars are visible and easily distinguished.

Earth beats Electric
Earth is an almost impenetrable shield against static and lightning. The earth does not conduct and allow electricity to flow within it. Grounding electricity stops the bolts from traveling.

Electric beats Ice
Unlike earth, water courses with connectivity and conducts electricity to devastating levels. The erratic and unpredictable currents that flow through water completely destroys life with excessive force.
