Status Effects
From LiMaWiki
Status Effects in the world of geomancy are effects upon the character that inhibit them severely. They all have an adverse effect on the character and all have a duration. They can be inflicted by spells, items, or other such means like old age or a bad battle wound. Characters can usually save against the status effects from spells or abilities. Durations are not set, each duration for the status effect is determined by the spell or item that causes it. Those status effects that do damage will cause damage every round, minute, hour, or day as described in the spell.

[edit] Blind
This status effect is caused by the domain of Light. When a target is blinded they lose the ability to see anything thus they have a 80% chance to miss a target when striking with any weapon or spells that require a range. When defending, attacking, or casting, the character must still roll to strike, parry, dodge, or cast, but even on a successful roll the character must roll a percentile dice. if a character rolls a 20% or under they make a successful move. If they roll higher than 20%, the move fails.
[edit] Block
This status effect is caused by the domain of Earth. When a character is blocked, they cannot cast any spells or powers or special abilities, even those from the warrior abilities. It prevents the character from using PE of any kind as well. A 0 PE cost still constitutes a spell that cannot be cast while blocked. This lasts for the duration listed by the spell. If the target is in the middle of concentrating an ability when affected by block, the spell is lost and the PE is still expended.
[edit] Burn
This status effect is caused by the domain of Fire. Severe burns over the body that cause target to take additional damage every time a hit is received. The blisters are so bad that the target is in extreme pain. For the duration of the status, the target takes damage depending on the spell or ability. If the target takes damage, the dice for damage is increased by +1. For example, if a target takes 2d8 points of damage while he is burned, he suffers 3d8 damage. If he suffers 4d10 damage, he suffers 5d10 instead. This damage cannot be applied to whole number damage such as an attack that does +10 fire damage.
[edit] Confuse
This status effect is caused by the domain of Dark. When a target is confused, they suffer a random effect that is intended to disrupt the normal flow of the character. The effects are randomly rolled once every round they are confused. The duration, range, or radius depends on the spell or item that causes a target to become confused.
1- The creature wanders as far away from the caster as possible
2- The creature stands still and dumb-founded (must take the nothing action)
3- The creature falls over as if dead, showing no sign of life (even with magical means)
4- The creature becomes angered and will only perform melee attacks (no abilities either)
5- The creature will use a random special ability at random targets
6- The creature only uses spells that cost PE, if they do not have any PE, they do nothing
7- The creature will attack the nearest other creature of the same type
8- The creature continues to perform the same task from the previous round (attack, cast a spell, whatever the target's action was the previous round)
9- The creature will use their strongest attack on the nearest target
10- The creature attacks itself.
[edit] Fatigue
This status effect is caused by the domain of Cosmic. A fatigued character is tired, exhausted, and has no physical will to do anything but rest. A character who is fatigued loses all bonuses to strike, parry, and dodge via weapon skills or attributes and must make those rolls on a straight 1d20. Only magic can give a character a bonus to hit. Once a character has rested or the spell duration ends, all abilities return to normal.
[edit] Frostbite
This status effect is caused by the domain of Ice. The very skin is blue from severe ice damage. A thin layer of frost covers most of the character's body and they loose the ability to apply their DEF and MGD to reduce damage for the duration of the status effect. After which, the skin heals and returns to normal.
[edit] Poison
This status effect is caused by the domain of Nature. A character who is poisoned appears sick as if they had a cold. Although they are not affected physically or mentally, they constantly lose life whenever they try to take an action. If the character tries to strike, parry, or dodge while poisoned, he instantly suffers 1d6 points of damage. This damage cannot be reduced by any means unless the target is immune.
[edit] Stun
This status effect is caused by the domain of Lightning. When a character is paralyzed they are considered disabled and cannot take any action for the duration.
