Synos Stones

Synos Stones are stones and crystals about 2 to 6 inches in diameter. They can be jagged, completely smooth, or non-symmetrical and come in all sorts of colors. They can range in appearance from simple quartz to exotic alexandrite or obsidian but the type of stone doesn't affect its power. These stones are not magically enchanted. Instead they are imbued with a small level of intelligence. They can store properties in them that can only be activated once the stone has bonded with a creature.

To bind a stone, this can only be done one of two ways. The first is having the stone crafted with the actual mind of its creator. This is done through enchanting techniques and doesn't physically remove the crafter's brain. This bestows real intelligence and allows the user to bond with it in order to activate its properties. The second way is to create an artificial mind into the stone. This imbues a intelligence that, like a real mind, can be manipulated and bonded with a creature.

In any event, once it is created, it is bound to the creator. If used by the creator, it is placed a few inches away from his head and lets go. If it is bound, the stone will float in a ever changing orbit around his head. If the stone is abandoned for 1 week, the stone becomes dull and gray. It is in this state that a neutral entity can use the stone and bond with it. Once picked up again, life begins to return to the stone as a faint glow fills it. If the stone is kept in the possession of the creature for 2 days, life will return fully. If the stone leaves the character at any point during this period, the process must be started over.

Once the stone is bonded to the creature, only that creature can use it and only looses its function if it becomes unbonded. The creature can only use it if it is floatin around his head. Any character can remove the stone however it requires a successful strike which the character can dodge. To use the Synos Stone, the character must only think it. All stones have a cooldown that must expire before it can be used again. A character can only equip up two two stones although they can be bonded with any number of stones. Equipping or removing a stone in combat is a full round action. Using a stone is a free action and all the creature's stones could be used before they even attack.

The creation of Synos Stones are done by NPC's. Much like enchanting, the secrets and techniques are heavily guarded. Once created, regardless of material, it has a HP of 40 and a DEF of 5. Attacking one requires the attacker to hit the stone which the defender can dodge. The attacker must make a called shot to the head and target a specific stone. Stones are immune to all types of magic and magical damage. This does include normal damage from spells or abilities, essentially only a called shot with a melee or ranged weapon can damage them.

The stones can come in higher grades of quality ranging from Crude to Legendary which gives bonuses to the stone's HP and DEF.

Metabolic
Boosts the target's ability to regenerate
Effect: After a full night's sleep, the character gains back his HGEN +5 and his PGEN +50

Slumber
Reduces the amount of sleep the creature needs
Effect: The Character needs only 4 hours of sleep (2 for deep halflings). Only one of these stones can be equipped per creature.

Effect: Increases NDAM (Both) by +3 for 5 minutes
