The Essence Weapons
From LiMaWiki
The origins of Essence Weapons stems far back when titans and elementals ruled the earth. Used as a elemental creator, natural crystals were seeded on the material plane to grow and nurture the loyal race of elementals. These things held the energy source of the creatures from simple things such as food to complex elemental airships. After the first cleansing of the world, creatures found these crystals and grafted them into weapons that could fire streams of flame or send a blast of icicles at targets. However as time waned, the technology became lost and forgotten. However by interacting with the technology, the Gods unknowingly created two entities. These entities would later be planted in the elemental-generating crystals and awaken a new age of weaponry.
Essence Weapons are types of weapons built from solid crystal. They can look like any weapon except the material is that of pure quartz-like substance. While it can be used like a normal weapon, its true use can only be seen from those trained with them. Essence Weapons cone in two types, Sparza and Laursa. Sparza weapons are attuned to the 8 elements of mana and Laursa weapons contain psychic, super force, or illusion elements. The two weapons come in different grades of quality that reflect the amount of damage they do. Although upon creation the damage type is chosen. A weaponsmith is needed to mold the weapon and an alchemist is needed to imbue an element into it. The DC is what is needed to be rolled for a weaponsmith and alchemist to create the weapon. The damage dice is dependent on the character's Added Essence Weapon Damage skill (with a minimum of 1). When in the hands of someone without the Essence Weapon skill, the weapon always does 1d4 damage regardless of the quality or the weapon type. Striking with the weapon is done with the Essence Weapon skill. The quality is determined by the weaponsmith's DC roll or the Alchemist's roll, whichever is lower. Essence Weapons give off no magical aura, even with detect magic spells. They also do not do regular damage, unless the character is untrained. They always do elemental damage instead and is reduced with MGD and resistances. The elemental damage cannot be changed once chosen.
| Quality | Damage | DC |
| Poor | d4 | 15 |
| Normal | d6 | 25 |
| High | d8 | 35 |
| Superior | d10 | 45 |
| Greater | d12 | 55 |
Ex: A mage makes a Superior Sparza weapon. Upon creation, she chooses an Ice element and the crystal becomes covered in icicles and is cold to the touch. She also has a Added Essence Weapon Damage skill of 11 which gives her weapon a 2d10 Ice damage.
As the character gains mastery over Essence Weapons, their ability to unlock its potential also increases. At level 5 of Essence Weapon skill, someone wielding a essence weapon can create a jet of magical energy and strike a target up to 10' away. The target can parry or dodge the attack as normal and damage is the same as the weapon. This can only be used once per day. At level 15, the character can use this 2 times per day and the range is increased to 20'. At level 40 this can be used 3 times per day and the range is increased to 30'.
